Information collection and use


The Alliance does not collect any personal information from a visitor to its site unless that visitor explicitly and intentionally provides it.

Registration
In order to obtain email updates from the Alliance web site, users are required to register. During registration, users are asked for e-mail contact information. This information is used for the sole purpose of sending the information requested. This is an automated process.

Statistical Information
The Alliance collect statistics about visits to its site. This information does not include personal information but only information about the visit. The Alliance may collect statistics such as how many people visit its site, users' IP addresses, which pages people visit, from which domains visitors come and which browsers people use. The Alliance web site uses "cookies," a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Cookies benefit the user by requiring login only once, thereby saving time while on the site. If users reject the cookies, they may be limited in the use of some areas of the site.

The Alliance web sites contain links to other sites. The Alliance is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such other sites. The Alliance encourages its users to be aware when they leave its site to read the privacy statements of each web site they choose to visit.


Queensland Alliance Privacy Policy


The Queensland Alliance of Mental Illness and Psychiatric Disability Groups Inc. (the Alliance) is the State-wide peak body for non-government organisations and groups which serve the needs of Queenslanders living with a mental illness or psychiatric disability. Under the Privacy Act 1988, organisation must adhere to the National Privacy Principles (NPP) set out in the Act if they:
· Have an annual turnover exceeding $3 million;
· Are a health provider; or
· Rely on databases of personal information for their core business.

Though the Alliance is not legally required to have a privacy policy, the existence of such a document provides evidence of the Alliance's commitment to due diligence and reasonable care to operate within the law. The existence of such a policy, along with actual practices within the organisation to support implementation of the policy, can be used in legal proceedings to demonstrate an organisation's genuine commitment to operating lawfully. Such a plan also provides a framework that will assists the Alliance to meet a range of regulatory requirements as the organisation grows or should the scope of the legislation increase.

Alliance project work and activities often include involvement from individuals within member organisations, sector stakeholders, carers and consumers. The Alliance is committed to ensuring the privacy of information provided by these individuals. Personal details provided by individuals participating in Alliance activities are kept on a secure and internal contact databases unless requested otherwise.

The Alliance commits to maintaining accurate and up-to-date personal information, which will not be used for any purpose, which is not related to Alliance activities, initiatives or services provided by the Alliance or for any other purpose that could not reasonably be expected.

People listed on various Alliance databases may be removed from said database at any time by contacting the Alliance on phone number 3832 2600, fax 3832 2622 or email (admin@qldalliance.org.au). Individuals participating in Alliance activities, services or initiatives may choose to remain anonyms wherever practicable. Sensitive information will not be collected by the Alliance without express consent of the individuals concerned.

All promotional material generated by the Alliance will offer the recipient an opportunity not to receive further communications of its nature.

The Alliance will not pass on or sell private information detailed on our databases to any other organisation or business. However, private information may be released where required by law or where the interests of the Alliance require disclosure.

Individuals and organisations listed on various Alliance databases may have access to their own personal information on request by phone, fax or email.

Publicly available information about member, stakeholder and partner organisations (such as the name of an organisation, telephone and fax numbers, website, email, street and postal addresses and principal contacts) may continue to be made publicly available by the Alliance.

Individuals, member, stakeholder and partner organisations of the Alliance registered on internal databases are kept informed of the organisation's seminars, workshops, events and activities.
