Mental Health Week 2010

Queensland's Mental Health Week State Planning Committee has continued with the popular theme "Be Active, Get Connected, Stay Involved" for Mental Health Week celebrations in 2010.

Mental Health Week commences on Sunday 10.10.10 with World Mental Health Day. The 10th will start with the Walk of Pride - an initiative of Arafmi, the Queensland Alliance and Reclink - taking place for its second year in Brisbane. The Walk aims to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance of mental illness and mental health issues.

The official launch event will then follow on the 10th in Brisbane's Roma St Parklands.

There is an opportunity for regional locations to secure mini-grant funding to run a public event to coincide with the launch date, and help encourage media coverage across QLD. Of course, mini-grant funds are also available for events and activities being undertaken throughout the week 10-16th October 2010.

We know that there are already many plans underway for MHW, so make sure you get your applications in. Please find detailed explanation of the *Theme*, and *Mini-Grant Funding Applications* and *Organiser's Kits* on the website www.mentalhealth.org.au

Applications for funding close on July 23rd. Remember, any group or individual who wishes to undertake an eligible project, within the state of QLD is encouraged to apply. Don't forget to stay tuned for the announcement of this year's Story Competition on July 1st .
