Information collection and use

Queensland Alliance for Mental Health does not collect any personal information from a visitor to its site unless that visitor explicitly and intentionally provides it.

Registration
In order to obtain email updates from Queensland Alliance for Mental Health web site, users are required to register. During registration, users are asked for e-mail contact information. Queensland Alliance for Mental Health Inc. Privacy Policy

Queensland Alliance for Mental Health Inc. is the State-wide peak body for non-government organisations and groups which serve the needs of Queenslanders living with a mental illness or psychiatric disability. Under the Privacy Act 1988, organisation must adhere to the National Privacy Principles (NPP) set out in the Act if they:
 
• Have an annual turnover exceeding $3 million;
• Are a health provider; or
• Rely on databases of personal information for their core business.
 
Though Queensland Alliance for Mental Health is not legally required to have a privacy policy, the existence of such a document provides evidence of Queensland Alliance for Mental Health’s commitment to due diligence and reasonable care to operate within the law. The existence of such a policy, along with actual practices within the organisation to support implementation of the policy, can be used in legal proceedings to demonstrate an organisation’s genuine commitment to operating lawfully. Such a plan also provides a framework that will assists Queensland Alliance for Mental Health to meet a range of regulatory requirements as the organisation grows or should the scope of the legislation increase.
Alliance project work and activities often include involvement from individuals within member organisations, sector stakeholders, carers and consumers.  Queensland Alliance for Mental Health is committed to ensuring the privacy of information provided by these individuals. Personal details provided by individuals participating in Alliance activities are kept on a secure and internal contact databases unless requested otherwise.
 
Queensland Alliance for Mental Health commits to maintaining accurate and up-to-date personal information, which will not be used for any purpose, which is not related to Queensland Alliance for Mental Health activities, initiatives or services provided by Queensland Alliance for Mental Health or for any other purpose that could not reasonably be expected.

Individuals participating in Queensland Alliance for Mental Health activities, services or initiatives may choose to remain anonymous wherever practicable. Individuals, member, stakeholder and partner organisations of Queensland Alliance for Mental Health registered on internal databases are kept informed of the organisation’s seminars, workshops, events and activities.
