ARE ALL JOBS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH? THE IMPACT OF WORK STATUS AND WORKING CONDITIONS ON MENTAL HEALTH
This chapter presents new evidence on the evolution of work-related mental illness
in OECD countries and on the role that new work patterns have played in affecting it. Despite the steep rise in disability benefit receipt for mental illness in many countries, available indicators do not suggest an overall increase in mental health problems among the working-age population across the OECD area. However, mental health appears to have worsened in certain countries and for certain workforce groups, while the reported incidence of certain potentially stressful working conditions has increased in Europe.

Consumer Voice Project Convention Report
Queensland Alliance is committed to consumer participation in mental health service planning and policy development. The Queensland Consumer Advisory Group (QCAG) was Queensland Health’s mechanism for receiving advice on mental health policy from consumer and carer perspectives. This group was disbanded in June 2004. The Alliance engaged in discussions with Queensland Health about what should replace QCAG. After eighteen months of discussions, Queensland Health agreed to provide resources to Queensland Alliance to undertake a state-wide consultation with consumers and carers about a new mechanism to provide advice to the Queensland Government from consumer and carer perspectives.

Garnaut Report into Mental Health and Climate Change
This paper considers how climate change may affect rural Australian mental health. Rural Australians live with various systematic disadvantages and many feel marginalised; climate change, especially drought, has worsened this. With drier conditions and more severe droughts expected in much of southern and eastern Australia over coming decades, and the demands for change and adaptation that this will present, we urgently need to understand the likely consequences for the mental health and wellbeing of people in rural Australia.
