CEO, Jeff Cheverton


Jeff Cheverton Jeff Cheverton is on the board of the Mental Health Council of Australia. He works day to day as the CEO of the Queensland Alliance, peak body for the mental health community sector in Queensland, where he is supported by fantastic staff. In the 1990’s Jeff managed housing programs, which enabled people with disability and mental illness return to the community, rather than be institutionalised. Since then, he has worked on circus projects with homeless young people; advocated on behalf of public housing tenants; and participated in Brisbane Social Forum. Jeff is committed to strengthening, building and inspiring a broader movement for social change. He has degrees majoring in Law, French and Social Policy; and has studied Business at QUT's Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies.


Program Director, Michael Wilson


Mike Wilson first engaged with the mental health sector working for a small NGO in New Zealand in 1994. Coming from a background in intensive cardiac care nursing in the USA and university clinical trial research management in NZ, his introduction to mental health in the early days of the Recovery movement was a transformative experience. Mike has developed a passion for looking for ways to ensure the best possible outcomes for persons with a mental illness and the people and professionals who cared for them.

A recent arrival to this beautiful State, Mike looks forward to starting a whole new developmental phase working with a young, agile organisation that serves the rapidly changing world of mental health service delivery.



Operations Manager, Rori Gibson


Rori is Operations Manager of the Queensland Alliance.


Industry Development Manager, Melody Edwardson


Melody has qualifications in community services and training and brings 20 years experience in direct support, management, project and governance roles in the community sector to Sector Development Manager position. Melody has been employed by Queensland Alliance Member organisations since 1997.


Leadership & Development Team Manager, Catherine Smith


Catherine has a diverse history spanning science, theatre, the disability sector and a direct lived experience of mental health issues.

The Leadership and Development Team manages the Consumer Participation Project to identify and encourage leadership, confidence and participation for people with a lived experience of mental health issues.


Finance Manager, Charlene Turner


Charlene commenced work at Queensland Alliance in January 2008 with 12 years experience in similar roles in the not-for-profit sector. Previously she worked in an administrative law role for the Commonwealth Government. Charlene has a Master of Professional Accounting from Griffith University and is a member of CPA Australia.
